Table Tops
Faust can produce table tops to any size and shape. We specialise in linoleum but offer wood veneer surfaces alongside different edging options too. Table tops are a Faust standalone product and can be purchased on their own for use with existing trestles or bases.
What shape of table top best suits your needs? Be it large or small, circular, square, elegantly oval or an irregular shape for an awkward corner, Faust is able to cut to size.
Materiality matters
At Faust, we give special consideration to materiality. Our custom-made table tops are available in linoleum or wood veneer and we offer a range of structural and edging options. Each material has unique characteristics and is suitable for a wide range of interior design projects. Each has been carefully selected for its quality, performance, environmental credentials and durability. All of our materials work well together and age beautifully over time.
Edging
Adding detail to your table top can make a good table great. In particular, Faust offers a broad range of edging options that can create colour and material contrast or coherence. Customers can choose from wood, linoleum, plywood, or MDF edging, each available in several variants.
Our configurator allows customers to see the effect each edging material will have on their table top. Explore our Edge Detailing Masterclass for a closer look at the techniques and materials behind each edging option.
Radii
The depth of a corner radius can add further character to a table. For example, a rounded radius adds visual softness, while a sharper one creates a more defined edge. At Faust, we are able to produce table tops with a breadth of different edge finishes and radii.
Our configurator allows customers to preview the effect each radii will have on their table top. For a closer look at the materials and techniques involved, explore our Edge Detailing Masterclass.
Cable Management Solutions
If your Faust table top is intended for working, studying, as a dedicated office desk, an occasional workstation, or a do-all table top for the home, it is likely that cable management is something that will improve its functionality. Explore our Cable Management Solutions page for a closer look at the range of cable holes, lids and trays.
FAQs
Should I opt for linoleum on both sides of a table top?
In general, it is not necessary to coat both sides of the table top with linoleum. In some cases, however, it is still done willingly: On a height adjustable table the bottom of the table can be visible, therefore adding matching linoleum improves the table’s overall appearance. For design flexibility and variation: If you intend to refresh the appearance of the table or create a different colour scheme in a room, a table top with two different linoleum surfaces offers variety. Should this use be desired, it is important to note that only table tops that do not require permanent attachment to a frame or legs can be considered.
What should I know about linoleum’s natural look?
Linoleum is made from natural raw materials (linseed oil, natural pine rosin, wood flour and limestone). Therefore, minor inclusions or subtle colour changes cannot be completely avoided in the final product. Faust removes any large contaminations that might be considered faults at the point of production. But minor inclusions are a recurring and natural feature of linoleum and therefore unavoidable. If your linoleum furniture features some small inclusions we encourage our customers to recognise these as a natural feature, like the grain of a wood, rather than fault. How should I clean the linoleum surfaces?
Faust furniture is characterised by beautifully natural and hard-wearing surfaces that benefit from regular care. To make this simple for our customers, we’ve developed a CARE Kit for both routine cleaning and occasional nourishment. Can I use linoleum as a countertop in my kitchen?
Yes, you can use linoleum as a countertop of your kitchen. Be aware that while linoleum is a durable surface that withstands the rigours of daily life, like many other natural materials, it is susceptible to damage from intense heat, moisture, or acid and needs to be protected accordingly. Be sure to protect your surface when needed with cutting boards and trivets.
You can configure your countertop using our table top configurator. For custom shapes or cut-outs for sinks and hobs, please send a 1:1 DXF and PDF outline drawing with your request.
Why should I choose a linoleum surface for my table?
Linoleum is a sustainable material made from natural and renewable raw ingredients. It excels in its unique combination of durability and visual appeal. The surface is soft, warm to the touch, and deeply tactile. Naturally anti-microbial and antistatic, it resists dust and dirt, staying hygienic and clean. Its quiet, low-maintenance character makes it well-suited for everyday use in living spaces like work spaces, dining rooms, or home offices. Over time, linoleum develops a beautiful patina, gaining character and individuality. Available in a wide range of rich, deep colours, linoleum tables, table tops and occasional furniture, easily adapt to your interior project.
